The last few years have brought about many challenges in the agricultural community. Droughts, floods and the wider issues relating to covid have put immense pressure on many industries and communities. The last few years have brought about many challenges in the agricultural community. Droughts, floods and the wider issues relating to covid have put immense pressure on many industries and communities. The team at Vantage NSW have recognised these challenges and have worked tirelessly to ensure that the solutions provided to their end customers have benefited not only their working lives but have also provided a tangible return on their investment.
Through the drought many customers who would have normally purchased new equipment invested in precision AG technologies to improve the efficiency of older equipment used in their farming operations. A good understanding of their customer base ensured that with the right consultation growers were able to select technologies that could provide cost saving benefits through the drought but provide a pathway for further investment in the future when conditions improved. In many cases as conditions improved and growers invested in new tractors and implements much of the investment made in the drought were able to be transferred into their new equipment with minimal cost.
Almost simultaneously, as growing conditions improved in northern NSW, COVID struck and following that severe disruptions to supply chains occurred and growers and dealers alike were forced to work with products and solutions that were available at the time. Luckily Vantage NSW had maintained good levels of inventory and were able to adjust to these disruptions and deliver solutions in time for critical growing seasons such as planting and harvest. To add to that, Vantage NSW was able to better support customers with the latest Trimble displays by logging into machines remotely with TeamViewer to fine tune autosteer systems as well as calibrate sprayers and implements to ensure that customers were getting the most from their investment, even with social distancing measures providing added challenges.
Farm management software such as Trimble Ag Software has also helped to provide further insights into machine and implement operation and has helped Vantage NSW to streamline farming operations through better management of planned tasks as well as enhanced decision making. Now with a dedicated Data Analyst to assist growers with any of their data management related activities, Vantage NSW is well situated to provide longer term strategies around further automation of on-farm activities, even paving the way for Level 4 Autonomous operations, where there may be no operator required in the cab.
In 2019, Vantage NSW formed a new relationship with PFG Australia, a leading distributor of tractors and distributors in the Australian and New Zealand agricultural industry. PFG, also being a fully independent group of family-owned companies, the synergies were immediate, and it became clear very quickly that the Australian market would benefit from this new relationship. As such, Vantage NSW now provide customised, factory fitted autosteer solutions for a range of Deutz-Fahr, Versatile and Kioti tractors, as well as ISOBUS solutions for a range of implements such as Kverneland, McHale, Vicon and Maschio Gaspardo. Although factory fitted, Vantage NSW provide precision ag training for these products that are supported through the extensive, Australia wide, PFG Australia dealer network.
In 2022, Vantage NSW was recognised for the hard work and dedication they have provided to their customers of Trimble Agriculture precision ag products and were awarded the Outstanding Dealer Award for 2022.
“When we go to work every day we don't go looking for recognition, but it's a great pat on the back for our team when the hard work is recognised. We are very lucky to have the people we have in our business that treat each job and customer with the detail required to be successful in our field”, said Michael Casey, General Manage of Vantage NSW. “Our team work on providing such a large range of solutions for a huge range of machines and implements and it can become quite complex when every day and every job can provide new challenges. I guess it keeps things interesting and it’s why we have developed almost an addiction for precision ag solutions and we love to see things working as well as they can”.
Focusing on the future, Vantage NSW has invested heavily on enhancing internal software solutions that are customised to empower their team and the businesses that work with them with better visibility and ease of access to supporting information.
“We will also be able to better manage service response times and understand where we may be failing so that we can improve our response times and ensure we are working with our growers to enhance their overall experience with precision AG technologies”, said Mr Casey. “With the wet weather we have experienced over the past few seasons the window of time to complete certain tasks has been highlighted. Our response times are critical to ensure that our growers can complete tasks in the short window available to them to ensure their operation is as profitable as possible”.
